RoJa video by Melissa Culhane Hand drawn frame by frame animation, edited digitally “I had RoJa on repeat for weeks as I made the drawings for the animation. Working intuitively with ink and watercolour, I experimented with different mark-making and rhythmical brushstrokes based on the Laban technique. The language of the video came about through repetition, drawing in response to the music. I gave equal weight to the drums – played by Matthew Jacobson, and the bass saxophone – played by Sam Comerford. The result is something abstract and hypnotic, inviting a deeper connection with the music.” Melissa Culhane, Go Radiate
